Bert Bos

                                              Gijsbert (Bert) Bos (born 10 November 1963, The Hague[1]) is a computer scientist. Bert studied mathematics in Groningen, The Netherlands, and holds a PhD from that university.Bert Bos was, in 1994, one of the original authors of CSS. Cascading Style Sheets  is a type of style sheet language.It describes the presentation semantic of a document written in mark-up language.

 Bert Bos joined W3C in 1995 to set up W3C’s internationalization activity  and was part of the groups that created HTML and XML. He is now coordinator for W3C’s style sheet and math activities.He is co-​​author with Håkon Wium Lie of the book “Cascading Style Sheets: designing for the Web” (3rd ed., Addison-​​Wesley, 2005).

Bert Bos wrote his PhD thesis on Rap id user interface development with the script language Gist.). He is a former chairman and the current W3C Staff Contact of the CSS Working Group.He is based in Sophia AntipolisFrance.
